Steel Pipe Piles: Elizabeth, NJ
Shore Systems Group won the bid to be the deep foundation construction contractor for the Jersey Walk redevelopment area in Elizabeth City, New Jersey. Our win was not luck, it was because we provided a cost-saving suggestion over their initial plan, which proved to be a better approach for our client’s budget and timeline. Our phase of work was the first part of the initial phase in the mixed-use construction project at the former Elizabeth General Hospital site. Our services included the installation of nearly 300 driven steel pipe piles to a depth of 35’ and capped with steel plates.
On the job, just as with many projects, we encountered several in-the-field challenges and daily encouragement calls and visits from our client, requesting us to keep production ramped up to meet project timeline goals. Our project manager, Pete Mucchiello, and various site foreman and laborers, all stepped up to the calling by providing direct and clear communication as we progressed every day. This allowed us to keep our client in the loop in real time and obtain their approval to organize a second crew, secure a second drill rig, and ramp up production to keep the project timeline in the target zone. This project was a win for Shore Systems Group and a win for our client.
As the initial contractor on most projects in an industry that often encounters unforeseen underground hold-ups, we do our best to provide excellent client services to ensure their ability to make crucial decisions with a high dollar value.
